MOBILEAPPS
DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT
The development of the Brickell City Centre mobile applications for iOS and Android were an intensive process.  The apps were to serve a complimentary, but very different function from the mobile web experience, one that is focused on information, but much more utility.
One of the largest complications to the development was to craft a sensible and user-friendly interface while serving very distinct audiences.  The apps had to serve our primary customer, a retail patron, while also providing service and utility to condo residents in a sub portal, hotel booking, and more.
I owned the development of the products, selected and managed the agency of record, developed concepts and content, identified integration partners and personally designed many elements and features.
UX/UI
Stunning UX/UI, in 3 languages: English, Spanish and Portuguese.
The app displays content in the appropriate language based on the devices native language setting, automatically adapting to its audience.
For simplicity of navigation in such a robust application, we utilized a global hamburger menu for a more adaptive navigation structure to account for evolving feature sets and functionality.
To supplement the primary menu, we incorporated either tab or tile style navigation in each section (Home, Condo, Hotel, Parking and Transportation) to navigate that section.  The style was chosen to maintain a retail-led interface with quick access for all features and functions.
SHOPPER EXPERIENCE
A highly functional store directory and mapping experience for superb search-ability off and onsite in a clean interface.
A cutting-edge navigation experience, utilizing the onsite wireless network infrastructure to triangulate a user's position anywhere onsite, and provide turn-by-turn routing guidance in a native mapping experience.
Integration of Google and Apple Maps API's for seamless door to store navigation capabilities.
On the backend, we used an API integration with the BCC website CMS, allowing for a single repository of store data and map POI's.
CONDO RESIDENTS
To accommodate the modern condo resident, we developed feature sets that would allow them to manage their living experience as efficiently as possible.
The residents, once registered with the association, receive their login credentials and access their building from the REACH + RISE section of the BCC application.
Once a resident enters, they find a clean feature navigation, allowing multiple aspects of lifestyle management, from delivery tracking, concierge services, amenity booking, maintenance requests with a photo upload function, in-app messaging, visitor registration, fee payment portal and a document repository.  A phase II beta inclusion of vehicle registration and valet requesting was in plan.
HOTEL SERVICES
The hotel, EAST, Miami is a Swire Hotels flag, but it is very much its own brand.  As such, EAST created its own mobile application with more guest features and functions than were necessary or prudent in the overall BCC app.  With that in mind, we still wanted to provide services that our residents and guests may want, such as overall information, room booking portal and restaurant services like reservations and menus.
PARKING
Parking was always considered the primary utility for the general retail visitor, and the main catalyst of downloads and retention.  In order to create stickiness for the application, we focused on parking services for the 1,200 underground parking spaces.

PAYMENTS
I always considered mobile parking payments to be a rapid growth segment and the gateway for many into mobile payment.  One thing I realized was that in Miami, I used one app 99% of the time for mobile parking payments, but I had 3 downloaded and I kept them, because I didn't want to re-enter my information should I be in a location of that provider again.
Through a partnership I negotiated with ParkJockey, we were in development (at the time I departed) of the in-app parking payment system to allow for users to download the BCC app, store a credit card and license plate number, which would then allow them to enter and exit the garage from that point forward utilizing license plate recognition.
Though I didn't manage this feature to completion, if it is implemented the way it was designed it will be one of the premiere digital functions available in the mall industry.

INTEGRATIONS
A number of partners collaborated to make the high-tech parking systems integrate into mobile.
ParkAssist outfitted the garage with cameras and lighting to show users where available parking is as they cruise through.  We utilized ParkAssist for in-app Find My Car requesting by license plate number, as well as the garage occupancy statistics available to customers in near-real time.
CVPS was the valet systems software that we integrated for ticket scanning and valet requests, so users could call their vehicle from the app utilizing their ticket number or stored vehicle that's enrolled in mobile payments.
Amano McGann is the gate hardware provider, that had to be integrated with by ParkJockey for gate operations.
